Active Tasks

In the IAP (Itential Automation Platform) Active Tasks interface, you can see running and completed tasks for active jobs, review tasks and work tasks. The only tasks shown are either running manual tasks the operator is authorized to work or completed tasks in active jobs. The tasks are organized and filtered based on the current username as well as the groups of which the user is a member.

Active Tasks

Label UI Element Function
1 Category Tabs Show tasks for the relevant task category.
2 Task List List of running tasks the user is authorized to work.
3 View Workflow View job, related tasks, and task states.
4 Release Task Release a claimed task.
5 Work Task Work manual task.
6 Claim Task Claim running manual task.

Task Categories

Category Description
Available Tasks Unclaimed, ready manual tasks the operator is authorized to claim and work.
My Tasks Claimed, ready, and yet to be worked manual tasks owned by the logged-in user.
Group Tasks Ready, yet to be worked, manual tasks the operator is authorized to work based on group membership. Shows both claimed and unclaimed tasks.
Scheduled Manual tasks the operator is authorized to claim currently waiting for their scheduled times. Also shows running automated tasks.

View Available Tasks

  1. Open the Active Tasks interface either from the home page or from the Applications menu.
  2. The Available Tasks tab, open by default, lists all running manual tasks in currently active jobs.
  3. Click the View Workflow button View Workflow Button. The Workflow will open and the currently running task will be outlined in blue.
  4. Click the Close button Close Button in the title bar to return to the Active Tasks list.

Claim or Release an Available Task

  1. Open the Active Tasks interface from the home page or from the Applications menu.
  2. Click the Available Tasks tab to see a list of running manual tasks in all active jobs.
  3. To claim an unclaimed task:
    • Click the Claim Task button Claim Task Button. When you claim a task, it becomes unavailable for others to claim and they can no longer see it in the Available Tasks view. You will see your claimed task under the Available Tasks and My Tasks tabs.
  4. To release a task you have claimed and make it available to other users:
    • Click the Release Task button Release Task Button. You may do this in the Available Tasks or My Tasks views. The task will be removed from My Tasks and will display again in the Available Tasks list for other users.

Work an Available Task

  1. Open the Active Tasks interface either from the home page or from the Applications menu.
  2. Click the Available Tasks tab to see list of running manual tasks in all active jobs.
  3. Open the Task dialog (see image below) in one of two ways:
    • Click the task itself in the table.
    • Click the Work Task button Work Task Button in the Actions column.
